At Flyte, we equip entrepreneurs with the financial knowledge and resources needed to build sustainable businesses, create generational wealth, and strengthen their communities.
Our Mission
Flyte was founded in 2017 with a mission to empower entrepreneurs and families with the skills and resources they need to overcome systemic financial inequities. We ensure Black-owned businesses have targeted support to prepare for and connect with capital that will provide them with the support and terms they need to succeed.
Since our inception, we have facilitated over 15 different programs of varying size and scope. Our programs have helped over 1,000 people from New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana access financial wellness resources. This includes our flagship Entrepreneur Empowerment Program launched in March 2021, a 12-month incubator serving early-stage local entrepreneurs, 90% of whom are Black female business owners from low and moderate-income households
A Unique Organization
Flyte is a unique organization in a number of ways.
Early-Stage Focus
We focus on businesses that are usually not mature enough for other local programs to take on board. We are essentially the foundation of the pyramid in our regional ecosystem and often the only program that many businesses in our region are able to join.
Holistic Support
Our focus on both personal finance and business finance is unusual. Too many programs, at all levels of support, do not put enough care and attention towards personal finance as a foundation for a successful business.
Year-Long Journey
Our continuous support for a minimum of 12 months is much longer than typical incubators or accelerator programs. This gives us the time to gradually implement learning and changes into participants’ daily lives and ensure habit-forming behavior.
Accessible Format
Our hybrid model and virtual format increases programmatic access and allows us to work with a broader geographic range of businesses than our local competitors who focus on smaller in-person programs of 15-20 businesses each year.
